Wales has a rich tradition of dance music and song which is continuing to grow and develop as today’s writers enrich the treasures of the past few centuries. Today’s musicians are taking Welsh music forward in a way that could not have been dreamed of a generation ago. Calennig was formed as a duo in 1978 and we have been at the forefront of this new Welsh music, drawing material from our huge cache of experience and spicing it with elements of jazz, swing, and tastes of other Celtic and European cultures.
We very quickly expanded into a 5 piece band who have traveled the world over the last 40 years. We have toured extensively in New Zealand, America and Europe as well as playing at many festivals in the UK. However, we are equally at home playing for weddings, birthday parties, or any village celebration.
