The countdown until the tickets for Cwlwm Celtaidd 2016 are available has started! Ticket prices can be found on the Box Office page, and will be available to purchase from the Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl from November 20th onwards!

Accommodation details are also available here, where you can download your Trecco Bay caravan booking form.

Cwlwm Celtaidd 2016 Launch Concert

Join us with Frank Hennessy and Friends for the 2016 launch concert on the 20th November at the Duke of Wellington in Cowbridge!

Programme Alterations

a) Workshops:
Scottish Dance 3pm Sunday. Cancelled.
Welsh Songs 3pm Saturday. Cancelled.

b) Chris Lawrence will now be performing on Saturday night at 8pm before the Dawnswyr Penyfai’s Band twmpath in the Stage Door, and not on Sunday in the Stage door concert. Artists following on the timetable on Sunday will perform earlier accordingly.

And Don’t Forget:
FESTIVAL YOUNG MUSICIAN COMPETITION is being held at 10.30am Saturday morning in the Stage Door. We have 10 contestants.

2015 Programme Now Available

With only a few weeks to go, we’ve just published the full programme for this year’s festival. It’s packed full of some fantastic acts from all over the celtic world, so it looks like it’s going to be another good one!

Young Musician of the Festival

The competition, part of the Cwlwm Celtaidd Festival, and aimed at young instrumentalists will be held on Saturday morning, February 28th, 2015 in the Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl.

Children / young people between the ages 10 to 18 years old on the final day of the Festival are invited to take part;

Competitors will play an unaccompanied Celtic tune / medley of traditional Celtic tunes, on an instrument of their own choice [Original tunes written in the tradition will be allowed];

Participants will be expected to give a brief introduction to their presentation before playing;

Performances will last a minimum of 3 minutes and no longer than 5 minutes.

Prize:

  • master class with a professional folk musician – on Sunday morning, March 1st;
  • the winner to play in the St David’s Day Concert on the Sunday afternoon;
  • a cash prize of £25;
  • winners name to be inscribed on the Festival Trophy;
  • a trophy, donated by Ewenny Pottery to be retained by the individual;
  • the accolade of being the ‘Young Musician of the Festival’.
